I’m a military spouse who recently moved to Colorado Springs after spending the last two years in South Korea. My husband and I started in Germany and moved around the United States a few times before packing up for Asia, but we still have a couple more moves in our books before he’s retired, only the army knows where we’ll go next.
As a military spouse, my job title changes with every move we make. Sometimes I work in retail on the base, including my own deployment to Qatar and Kuwait for 8 months in 2009-2010, other years I am a behavioral therapist, working with autistic students pre-k through 12th grade. A few years ago I received my Certified Nurse Assistant license and did home health care for the elderly, followed by my Emergency Medical Technician license, driving an ambulance for a medical transport company. Last year I was in Kindergarten, playing dress up and tag, getting sticky hugs and loving the children of tomorrow. During that time, I started classes for my Clinical Medial Assistant, Phlebotomy Tech and EKG Tech with an anticipated graduation of summer 2016. We are expected to be in Colorado for about 4 years, the longest of any duty station thus far, so I am very excited to be able to put in my application at the university for the 2016 fall semester to become a Registered Nurse (and graduate before we have to move!!!)
I am so humbled to be a part of this Trek to Nepal, to help rebuild and revitalize Chhulemu. This is a time in my life when I can physically go and help the locals and make some positive changes in the two weeks we are there. Thank you for your support and prayers, I couldn’t do this without you.
